DAILY RITUALS

01

MORNING FACE

Why this works

Post-cleanse, your skin is clean and slightly damp, the ideal state to absorb oil. Four to five drops of almond oil mixed into your regular moisturizer delivers Vitamin E directly where your skin needs it. It adds a subtle glow, helps with uneven skin tone, and leaves your face plump and hydrated without any heaviness.

  • Rich in Vitamin E, one of the most effective antioxidants for skin
  • Low comedogenic score of 2, unlikely to clog pores, suitable for most skin types including combination
  • Helps visibly reduce uneven skin tone over time and adds a natural glow
  • Lightweight, absorbs without a greasy finish

Morning Glow Ritual

How to do it

01

Post-shower or post-cleansing, while skin is still slightly damp, take 3–4 drops of Malash almond oil in your palm, mix into your regular moisturizer, and apply together across your face.

02

Gently press and spread in upward strokes, covering all areas including under the eyes.

03

Let it sit for 45–60 seconds. Do not layer anything else on top immediately. Give the skin time to absorb.

04

Apply sunscreen. Always. It protects the glow you just put on your skin.

02

NIGHT FACE

Night Serum Ritual

Why this works

Night is when skin is most receptive to nourishment and renewal. By blending Malash Almond Oil into your night cream, you create a rich overnight treatment that deeply moisturizes while supporting the skin’s natural repair process. Rich in Vitamin E and naturally occurring fatty acids, almond oil helps replenish moisture, soften texture, and leave skin looking rested and luminous by morning.

• Deeply nourishes while you sleep
• Supports the skin’s natural overnight renewal cycle
• Helps improve softness and smoothness
• Reinforces the skin’s moisture barrier
• Rich in Vitamin E for healthy-looking radiance
• Leaves skin feeling supple, comfortable, and refreshed by morning

How to do it

01

Start with a thorough cleanse with your regular cleanser. Pat dry, leaving skin slightly damp.

02

Take 3–4 drops of Malash almond oil and mix with your face cream for maximum nourishment.

03

Warm between your palms. Press gently into skin, no rubbing. Focus on under-eye area and dry patches.

04

No additional products on top. Let the almond oil work overnight.

03

MORNING FACE

The Radiance Foundation Mix

Why this works

A drop or two of almond oil mixed into your foundation does something most primers can’t. It adds real nourishment as you wear makeup, not just surface coverage. The result is a smoother, more radiant finish that feels comfortable throughout the day. Your foundation glides on more evenly, sits better on the skin, and doesn’t settle into fine lines the way dry foundation often does.

  • Creates a skin-like, radiant finish, not cakey or flat
  • Helps foundation blend more smoothly and evenly
  • Prevents foundation from sitting in fine lines
  • Skin stays nourished, not just covered, through the day

How to do it

01

Apply your face moisturiser as usual and let it absorb. Then dispense your usual amount of foundation onto the back of your hand, add 1–2 drops of Malash almond oil directly into it, and mix together using a brush or your fingertip.

02

Apply as you normally would. The oil thins and enriches the foundation slightly, start with 1 drop and adjust to your preferred finish.

03

Build coverage as needed. The finish will appear more luminous and skin-like than foundation applied alone.

04

Apply sunscreen over your finished look. Always the last step, it protects everything beneath it.

04

DAILY BODY

Post-Shower Body Oil Ritual

Why this works

The 60 seconds immediately after your shower, when skin is still damp, is the best window to lock in moisture. Applying coconut oil at this moment seals the water already sitting on your skin before it evaporates. The result is soft, deeply hydrated skin that doesn’t need to be reapplied every few hours. You can also mix a few drops into your regular body lotion to boost its performance and add a natural glow.

  • Damp skin absorbs oil faster and more evenly than dry skin
  • Lauric acid in coconut oil creates a long-lasting moisture seal
  • Regular use visibly smoothens skin texture, softening rough patches over time
  • Mix with your body lotion to amplify hydration
  • Leaves skin visibly soft and subtly radiant, no greasy residue

How to do it

01

Step outside the shower, or while still inside once you are done, apply coconut oil while your skin is still slightly damp, before you towel off. This is the window that makes the difference.

02

Take 1–2 teaspoons of Malash coconut oil. If solidified, warm it between your palms until it melts.

03

Option A: Oil alone. Apply directly to skin in long strokes, working from ankles upwards. Massage in until absorbed.

04

Option B: With lotion. Add 4–5 drops of coconut oil to your regular body lotion in your palm, mix, and apply together, always on damp skin for best absorption and nourishment.

05

WEEKLY BODY

Body Massage & Joint Relief Ritual

Why this works

Full body massage is one of the oldest rituals in Indian self-care and the oil you use determines how well it works. Warmth and penetration are the two things that make a body oil effective. Mustard’s natural heat and deep absorption make it ideal for joint stiffness and muscle fatigue. Sesame is the Ayurvedic classic for abhyanga, warming, grounding, and deeply nourishing. Almond and coconut are lighter, better suited for daily moisturising massage or when you want the benefits without the intensity. Choose your blend based on what your body needs that day.

  • Mustard + Coconut: deeply warming, best for joint stiffness and winter use
  • Sesame + Coconut: the Ayurvedic abhyanga blend; warming, grounding, full-body nourishment
  • Almond + Coconut: lighter, softer; best for daily massage or sensitive skin
  • Warm oil penetrates deeper, a must for joint and muscle relief
  • Post-workout recovery or general muscle fatigue, any blend works

How to do it

01

Choose your blend. Mix equal parts of your chosen oils, or go heavier on whichever suits your need, more mustard for warmth, more coconut for lightness.

02

Warm the oil. Pour the oil into a small bowl and warm it by placing the bowl in hot water, or warm it in your palms by rubbing them together for 30 seconds. Oil that is warm penetrates significantly deeper than oil at room temperature.

03

Apply to the body in long, firm strokes. For joints, use circular pressure on knees, ankles, and wrists. Spend 2–3 minutes per area.

04

Leave on for 30–40 minutes before showering. If doing this at night, leave on overnight. The oil continues to work as you sleep and showering immediately after would wash away the oil before it has fully absorbed into the muscle tissue. Lie down or sleep after applying to let the oil settle undisturbed.

05

Shower with warm (not hot) water. Hot water strips the oil before it has fully absorbed.

06

DAILY BABY

Baby & Toddler Massage Ritual

Why this works

Malish se Maalish. It is quite literally what the name means, and where the brand began. Daily maalish is one of the most time-honoured practices in Indian parenting, and for good reason. It supports the development of the skin barrier, keeps skin soft and hydrated, and creates a bonding ritual between parent and child. Because our oils contain zero additives, preservatives, or synthetic fragrance, they are as gentle as it gets. Almond oil used from a young age is known to help skin retain its natural glow and softness into adulthood, and is particularly well suited for the face given how gentle and lightweight it is on delicate skin. Coconut oil is particularly well-suited for warmer months thanks to its lighter, cooling texture.

  • Zero additives, safe for the most delicate skin
  • Almond oil, nourishing and light; the preferred choice for a toddler’s face given its gentle, low-comedogenic profile
  • Coconut oil, cooling and antimicrobial; ideal for Indian summers and full body maalish
  • Strengthens the skin barrier with consistent daily maalish
  • Almond oil for the face, coconut or almond for the body. Patch test first as with any product

How to do it

01

Do a small patch test on the inner arm before first use. Wait 24 hours to confirm no sensitivity.

02

Warm a small amount of oil (almond for year-round use, coconut in summer) between your palms before touching the baby’s skin.

03

Use gentle, slow strokes for the body maalish. For the face, use almond oil with just the fingertips and the lightest possible pressure. It is the gentlest of the four oils and ideal for delicate facial skin.

04

Leave on for 10–15 minutes before bath time. The warmth of the bath helps the skin absorb any remaining oil.

WEEKLY RITUALS

07

WEEKLY HAIR

Pre-Wash Scalp Oil Ritual

Why this works

The most effective time to oil your hair is before you wash it, not after. Coconut and almond oil are the primary stars of this ritual, mixed in a 3:1 ratio (coconut to almond), they form a deeply nourishing base that penetrates the hair shaft and conditions the scalp without heaviness. Coconut oil’s lauric acid structure allows it to enter the hair cortex itself, reducing protein loss from within, while almond oil adds Vitamin E and slip that makes the blend easier to work through the hair. Mustard and sesame serve as powerful secondary additions. A teaspoon of either brings circulation-stimulating and antibacterial benefits to the scalp. When it comes to oiling, less is more. A well-applied small amount focused on the scalp does far more than a generous amount piled onto the lengths. The scalp is where the work happens. Fed follicles, better growth, healthier hair.

  • Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft and reduces protein loss from within
  • Almond oil adds Vitamin E and conditions without heaviness
  • Scalp is the priority. Oil applied to the scalp feeds the follicle; oil on dry lengths is largely cosmetic
  • Mustard and sesame (secondary) stimulate scalp circulation and maintain a healthy, balanced scalp environment
  • Pre-wash oiling reduces hygral fatigue (damage from water absorption during washing)
  • Visible reduction in breakage within 4–6 weeks with consistent weekly use

How to do it

01

Mix 3 parts coconut oil to 1 part almond oil, about 1.5 tablespoons coconut and 0.5 tablespoon almond (for medium-length hair). Warm gently between your palms until fluid.

02

Part your hair in sections and apply directly to the scalp using your fingertips or an oil applicator for precision. The scalp is the priority, this is where the oil does its most important work. Use fingertips or a scalp massager in firm circular motions for 5 minutes.

03

Work any remaining oil lightly through the mid-lengths. Remember, less is more. You are nourishing the scalp, not coating the hair.

04

Leave on for 1–2 hours maximum. Leaving oil on overnight is not necessary and can lead to scalp buildup, clogged follicles, and attracting dust and pollutants. The oil completes its absorption within the first hour or two.

05

Double shampoo to wash out thoroughly. The first wash lifts the bulk of the oil; the second cleans the scalp properly. Skipping the second shampoo often leaves residue that weighs hair down.

DIY HAIR

Anti-Greying Scalp Ritual

Why this works

In Ayurvedic tradition, sesame oil has long been used as a ritual oil to support scalp health and slow premature greying, a practice passed down across generations in Indian households. While greying is ultimately a genetic process, Sesamol and Sesamin, the rare antioxidants found only in sesame, are believed to nourish the scalp and protect hair follicles from oxidative stress, one of the contributing factors to early greying. Combined with coconut oil’s deep penetration, this blend is a natural, time-honoured ritual for scalp care. Not a medical treatment, but a well-rooted tradition.

  • Sesamol and Sesamin, rare antioxidants unique to sesame, traditionally associated with scalp health
  • Coconut oil carries the blend deeper into the scalp
  • Reduces oxidative stress on hair follicles with regular use
  • A traditional remedy, not a medical claim, but a deeply trusted one

How to do it

01

Mix equal parts Malash sesame oil and Malash coconut oil, about 1 tablespoon of each for medium-length hair.

02

Warm the blend by pouring it into a small bowl and setting it in hot water for 2 minutes, or by warming it between your palms. Warm oil absorbs into the scalp more readily.

03

Part your hair and apply directly to the scalp. Massage gently in circular motions for 5–7 minutes. The scalp is where this ritual does its work. Keep the focus here, not on the lengths or ends.

04

Leave on for 1–2 hours. Leaving oil on overnight is unnecessary. The scalp absorbs what it needs within the first couple of hours, and extended wear can lead to buildup and clogged follicles.

05

Double shampoo to wash out completely. The first wash lifts the oil and the second cleans the scalp. Use once a week consistently for best results.

09

EVENING FACE

The Coconut Oil Makeup Remover

Why this works

Multani mitti deep cleanses and draws out impurities. Adding a few drops of oil to the mix means your skin gets the benefits of the clay without the tightness and dryness that follows. The oil balances the clay’s absorbency, so your pores are clean without your skin feeling stripped.

  • Almond oil, for dry or normal skin (adds back moisture)
  • Sesame oil, for oily or acne-prone skin (antibacterial, lighter)
  • Multani mitti draws out impurities and excess sebum
  • Use once a week, not more

How to do it

01

Mix 2 tablespoons of multani mitti with rose water or plain water until it forms a smooth paste.

02

Add 3–4 drops of almond oil (dry skin) or sesame oil (oily skin) and mix well.

03

Apply evenly to cleansed skin. Avoid the eye area.

04

Leave on for 15–20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Pat dry.

05

Apply your regular moisturiser immediately after while skin is still slightly damp. Mix 3–4 drops of Malash almond oil into it before applying to restore moisture and lock in the benefits of the mask.

10

NIGHT BODY

The Navel Nourishment Ritual

Why this works

Most makeup removers work by using surfactants or solvents to break down product on the skin. Coconut oil does the same thing through a simpler principle: like dissolves like. Makeup, including waterproof formulas, is oil-based. Coconut oil binds to it, lifts it from the skin, and wipes away cleanly. No alcohol, no fragrance, no preservatives. Malash coconut oil is cold-pressed and edible-grade, which means it is pure enough to eat. What you are putting near your eyes and on your skin contains nothing your skin would need to work against.

  • Breaks down oil-based makeup including waterproof mascara, kajal, and long-wear foundation
  • No alcohol, no fragrance, no synthetic solvents safe for sensitive skin and the eye area
  • Cold-pressed and edible-grade: the same purity standard you'd apply to food
  • Leaves the skin's natural moisture barrier intact, unlike many conventional removers
  • One ingredient. One step. Replaces an entire product category

How to do it

01

Start with dry skin and dry hands. Water reduces the oil's ability to bind to makeup, so do not wet your face first.

03

Take 3–4 drops of Malash coconut oil on your fingertips. If solidified, warm between your palms for a few seconds until it melts into a clear liquid.

05

Massage gently across the face in circular motions for 30–45 seconds. The makeup will visibly emulsify and lift. For the eye area including waterproof mascara and kajal press a drop directly onto a cotton pad and hold it over closed eyes for 10 seconds before wiping. No rubbing.

07

Wipe away with a damp cotton pad or a warm muslin cloth. The oil and makeup come off together. Rinse with lukewarm water.

09

Follow with your regular cleanser for a double cleanse. This removes any remaining oil residue and leaves the skin fully clean and ready for your evening routine.

11

Acne-prone skin: do not skip the second cleanse. Coconut oil is an effective remover but it is occlusive. The follow-up cleanse ensures your pores are clear, not coated.

11

MORNING BODY

The Morning Pull Ritual

Why this works

Most people know coconut oil for skin and hair. Fewer know it for the mouth. Oil pulling is one of the oldest oral hygiene practices, and coconut oil is exceptionally well suited to it. The lauric acid in coconut oil has natural antimicrobial properties that disrupt the bacterial membranes responsible for plaque buildup and bad breath. Swishing pulls bacteria away from the teeth and gums before your toothbrush even touches them. The result, over consistent use, is noticeably cleaner teeth, fresher breath, and healthier gums. Malash coconut oil is cold-pressed and edible-grade, so it is exactly the right quality to put in your mouth.

  • Lauric acid disrupts bacterial membranes, reducing plaque and harmful bacteria in the mouth
  • Reduces bad breath at the source rather than masking it
  • Supports gum health with regular use
  • Cold-pressed, edible-grade: no chemicals, no additives, safe for daily oral use
  • Noticeably whiter teeth with consistent practice over time

How to do it

01

Do this first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything.

02

Take 2 to 3 teaspoons of Malash coconut oil into your mouth. If it is solid, it will melt within seconds.

03

Swish it through your teeth and around your mouth for at least 5 minutes. Work up to 10 to 15 minutes if you can. Do not swallow.

04

Spit it out into a bin, not the sink. The oil thickens as it collects bacteria and can clog pipes over time.

05

Rinse thoroughly with water. Salt water is even better if you have it.

06

Brush as normal. The oil pulling comes before brushing, not after.

12

FACE & BODY

The Calm & Quiet Ritual

Why this works

Coconut oil has a way of showing up exactly when skin needs it most. A mosquito bite, a patch of sunburn, a pore that has had enough, a small sting that will not settle. These are the moments where reaching for a bottle full of ingredients you cannot pronounce feels like overkill. Malash coconut oil is cold-pressed, single-ingredient, and edible-grade, which means it is about as pure as anything you will put on your skin. The lauric acid and capric acid it naturally contains are well-known for their calming, anti-inflammatory effect on irritated skin. The oil does not sting, does not strip, and does not ask anything of skin that is already under stress. For sunburn specifically, coconut oil provides a cooling, softening layer that helps the skin recover without further aggravating it. One oil. A lot of situations it handles quietly and well.

  • Lauric acid and capric acid calm inflamed, reactive skin without interference
  • Effective on mosquito and insect bites, surface redness, irritated pores, and mild sunburn
  • Provides a cooling, soothing layer over heat-stressed and sun-exposed skin
  • No alcohol, no fragrance, nothing that aggravates already stressed skin
  • Cold-pressed and edible-grade: the purity standard holds even here

How to do it

01

For bites, pores, and general surface irritation: take a drop or two of Malash coconut oil on a clean fingertip and gently pat onto the area. Do not rub. Let it sit and absorb on its own.

02

For sunburn: cool the skin first with cold water or a damp cloth for a few minutes. Then take a small amount of coconut oil, room temperature or cooler, and gently pat it over the affected area. Do not warm the oil and do not press it in. Let it rest on the surface.

03

Leave the oil on. No rinsing. It absorbs slowly and that is exactly the point.

04

Reapply 2 to 3 times through the day as needed. For sunburn, stay out of direct sun while the skin is recovering.

05

For severe burns, blistering, spreading redness, or any reaction that worsens, please see a doctor. This ritual is for mild, surface-level irritation and sun exposure.

13

BODY

The Pre-Swim Shield Ritual

Why this works

Chlorine is the price of a clean pool, but your skin pays it every time you swim. It strips the skin's natural oils, disrupts the moisture barrier, and leaves that tight, dry, faintly chemical feeling that lingers long after you have towelled off. Applying coconut oil to the skin before you get in the water creates a thin protective layer that reduces direct chlorine contact with the skin barrier. It will not make you waterproof, but it does meaningfully cut the impact. You come out of the water with skin that still feels like skin. The oil also gives a natural, effortless sheen in the water, which does not hurt either.

  • Creates a protective barrier that reduces direct chlorine absorption into the skin
  • Prevents the tight, dry feeling that follows chlorinated water exposure
  • Keeps the skin's moisture barrier more intact through the swim
  • Lightweight enough to not interfere with movement in the water
  • Works just as well for hair: apply a small amount before swimming to protect strands from chlorine damage

How to do it

01

Apply before you get into the water, ideally 5 to 10 minutes before your swim.

02

Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of Malash coconut oil and warm it between your palms if solid.

03

Apply in long strokes over all exposed skin: arms, legs, shoulders, neck. A light, even layer is enough. You are not moisturising here, you are shielding.

04

For hair, take a small amount and work it through mid-lengths to ends before tying your hair up or putting on a swim cap.

05

After your swim, rinse with clean water and follow with your regular shower routine. The oil will have done its job by then.
